How MGB Eclipse qPCR probes are used

As a result of improved knowledge and understanding of the human genome, quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) has become an increasingly important tool for researchers and clinicians. The gold standard, 5′ nuclease qPCR assay uses oligonucleotide probes that have 3 essential features:

  • fluorescent reporter dye
  • non-fluorescent quencher
  • minor groove binding molecule

The technique is routinely used in research and for various clinical tests, including identification of mutations that are related to cancer development or metastasis, gene defects that result in genetic diseases (e.g., cystic fibrosis), prenatal testing to detect congenital disorders, and detection of viral and bacterial DNA in human samples.

MGB qPCR probes with IDT quality

MGB Eclipse® Probes*, a widely used type of qPCR probe, are comprised of oligonucleotides coupled to fluorescent dyes, NFQ quencher, and Minor Groove Binder (MGB) groups. When you order MGB Eclipse Probes from IDT, you will receive IDT's outstanding oligo quality and GMP manufacturing expertise.

*Please note that any use of these probes in an application outside of research requires the customer to obtain any necessary regulatory approval for the end use of the product.

How to order and what you get

MGB Eclipse probes are HPLC purified for high quality. Customers can also be assured of complete transparency and product traceability, which are hallmarks of our GMP business strategy.

In the United States, MGB probes are not limited to human in vitro diagnostic use only. Although a number of other available applications exist, including in vitro diagnostics, commercial, agbio, and research, each customer who purchases this product is required to obtain their own regulatory approval for any use outside of research.

In other jurisdictions, MGB Eclipse Probes are licensed by ELITech for use solely in human in vitro diagnostic end-use applications. Customers need to follow the licensing requirements of their specific jurisdiction. IDT manufactures MGB Eclipse probes and companion primers under GMP conditions and using ISO certified processes.
